Adler TIPPA Portable TypeWriter

This is a later model, likely from 1979, manufactured in the Netherlands. Script font - Script Ro 75 with 11 letters per inch, QWERTY keyboard. White plastic casing, black key tops. The typewriter is in very good condition with very little signs of use.The lid/carrying case has a few marks.

Came with:

- newly fitted black ribbon (this model uses single colour ribbon only

- integrated carrying case/lid,

- original Instruction Handbook

The Script Ro 75 typeface (also known as Roma) was designed and manufactured by Ransmayer & Rodrian (RaRo), a prominent German company specializing in typewriter type slugs.

Design Origin and Manufacturing

Company: Ransmayer & Rodrian (RaRo) was the primary producer of this script. Founded by Alfred Ransmayer and Albert Rodrian, the company operated out of Berlin and became a leading supplier of typefaces to major European and global typewriter manufacturers.

Role as a Third-Party Foundry: Unlike many computer fonts designed by a single independent artist, typewriter typefaces like Ro 75 were often developed by industrial font foundries like RaRo and then licensed to machine manufacturers.

Adoption by Manufacturers: Major companies such as OlympiaAdler, and Triumph purchased the Ro 75 slugs from RaRo to offer as a premium font option on their machines.

Variations in Name:

While RaRo officially designated the design as Ro 75 or Roma, it was rebranded by various manufacturers for marketing purposes:

Olympia: Marketed it simply as Script 75 or Tall Script.

Smith Corona: Used a nearly identical design marketed in North America as Artistic Script #75SR.

Other Foundries: Similar versions were sometimes produced by other suppliers like Setag or Tangens, who often imitated RaRo's successful designs.
